Reliable dates need
a paper trail.

Primary sources first
2026 — Official: State Council General Office, 国办发明电〔2025〕7号, November 4, 2025. Holiday breaks and all six adjusted working days are transcribed from this notice. A Beijing government republication provides an accessible cross-check.
2027 — Provisional: no mainland State Council annual notice was verified as of October 28, 2026. We use the China Foreign Exchange Trade System’s provisional 2027 planning notice for reference festival dates, with Chinese New Year’s Day cross-checked against the Macao government’s festival date list. CFETS presets are not nationwide holiday arrangements; Macao’s days off are not used for mainland China. We publish no inferred 2027 holiday ranges or makeup days.
General background: the 2024 revision of the national holiday measures, effective January 1, 2025, provides the statutory framework. The annual notice remains the source for each year’s actual breaks and workday adjustments.
Official vs provisional
An Official schedule badge means the year’s holiday breaks and adjusted working days have been verified against an annual State Council notice. A Provisional badge means reference dates are available, but the national holiday arrangement is not confirmed.
Reference festival dates do not indicate the length or boundaries of a holiday break. An empty provisional makeup-day list means unknown, not “no adjusted working days.”
How the working-day checker decides
- Validate the Gregorian date. Invalid dates are rejected.
- Find the year’s schedule. Uncovered years return “Year not covered.”
- If the schedule is provisional, return “Unconfirmed,” including on reference festival dates.
- For an official schedule, check designated adjusted workdays first.
- Then check the inclusive holiday-break ranges.
- Otherwise, Saturday and Sunday are ordinary non-working weekends; Monday to Friday are working days.
All date strings represent civil dates in mainland China. Calendar arithmetic uses UTC to avoid browser timezone and daylight-saving shifts. “Today” is calculated in Asia/Shanghai (UTC+8), irrespective of the visitor’s location.
What a holiday-break duration means
We count both the start and end dates. The duration includes ordinary weekends and shifted rest days inside the announced break. It is not a count of statutory holiday entitlement. The official 2026 breaks total 33 calendar days, with six adjusted weekend workdays.
Updates and corrections
Our editorial target is to verify and publish changes within 24 hours of an official 2027 notice. This is an editorial target, not a live feed. The site does not currently monitor notices automatically.
To update a year, the maintainer verifies the notice, replaces provisional data, records its URL and publication date, checks all ranges and makeup dates, runs the tests and build, and updates the visible review date and changelog before deployment. Until that process is complete, 2027 remains provisional.
If sources disagree, the latest verified State Council annual notice takes priority for nationwide arrangements. Local or employer-specific exceptions are outside the checker’s scope.
Limits of the reference
This calendar covers mainland China’s nationwide arrangements only. It does not determine individual working hours, bank settlement availability, local holidays or organization-specific closures. Planning notes are practical guidance rather than guarantees of service.
